Ernest Cronin

Welcome to our software development company! My name is Ernest Cronin, and I’m excited to share a bit about myself and the vision behind our work.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the software development field, I have dedicated my career to creating innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, which gives me a unique perspective on problem-solving and technology. I am deeply passionate about understanding the underlying principles that govern both human thought and machine operation, allowing me to create software that is not only functional but also user-friendly and intuitive.

I have had the privilege of working in diverse industries, including healthcare and fintech, where I have honed my skills and gained valuable insights into the specific challenges and opportunities these sectors present. My commitment to excellence drives me to stay at the forefront of technological advancements, ensuring that our solutions are both innovative and effective.

Having lived in South Philadelphia since the 90s, I am deeply rooted in my community and strive to bring a local touch to our global operations. I believe that great software can emerge from a blend of local culture and the broader, fast-paced tech landscape.

Beyond my professional life, I am an avid traveler, and I aim to see the world—especially through my journeys in Latin America. Each trip expands my horizons and fuels my creativity, allowing me to bring fresh perspectives to my work.

In addition to my passion for software development, I am a jiu-jitsu black belt and have been actively competing for nearly two decades. I also train and corner several MMA fighters, which has taught me valuable lessons in discipline, resilience, and teamwork—principles that I carry into my professional endeavors.

I am also a dedicated chess player. In my earlier years, I earned a standard expert rating and enjoyed the strategy and challenge of the game. Although I have shifted my focus to blitz play, the critical thinking skills I developed through chess continue to influence my approach to software development.

At our company, we believe in a holistic approach to technology, where creativity, strategy, and user experience intersect. We are here to partner with you in navigating the complex landscape of software development and achieving your goals.

"An engineer has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add,
but when there is nothing left to take away."
     --Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

I have 20+ years' programming experience in diverse platforms, frameworks, and languages. What I have learned in that time is this: my large knowledge base of tech isn't my top asset. My number one skill is my constant consumption of new and novel information. I can jump into complex systems and learn them at record speeds. It's easy to find tech guys who can understand Java; it's harder to find tech guys who understand your business. With experience in Insurance, Healthcare, and Finance, I have worked with a variety of business models and types of organizations.

With an intuitive grasp of complex systems, I have the ability to design and develop virtually anything. Furthermore with real world experience beyond just textbook knowledge, I know when to use an existing solution and when custom work is necessary. Maximizing your ROI on every project is our goal.

As the lead architect and standard bearer for our development team I strive to inspire: innovation, efficiency, and elegance in coding. Living by the above quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Outside of software development, I am an avid video gamer. My Steam account is so old it was opened with a hotmail.com address. I enjoy off-roading in the woods of central Pennsylvania. I haven't gotten the Polaris so stuck it can't be recovered, but there is still time. I design board games and enjoy prototyping ideas and watching them become physical copies of a future game. I work with Un-Pub, an association of board game developers who work together to test and refine ideas. My true passion project has been leading a youth group for 15 years.
